the drying of the ports

poetry

on the port i met her
down a bottle of spanish crown
i was just a child of the ocean
she was a pretty satin gown
it’s been a while since
i said that i had seen
such a beauty laid before me
she said this one would be free

this is not a summer dream

This is lovely, I like it. That said, I will use my freedom to misconstrue, and give you a convoluted interpretation; well, I was thinking that this poem could be about how you or rather impersonally how a sea man discovered his love for a lavish gown as well as the temptation to try it on and be free…
