A Tribute to the New X-Files Movie, in Five Stanzas

poetry

I find myself surrounded
by Mulder’s mantra,
both on my computer’s
background and on my mind.

I want to believe
that everyone can think
that everyone is smart
that everyone is equal.

I want to believe
that I can help
that I can teach
that I can make a difference.

I want to believe
that people are good
that the world is good
that God is good.

And out of my want
I will make reality
I will choose my reality
I will believe my reality.

    i believe its… aliens, aliens, aliens, aliens….

and what gives julio? a whole post dedicated to the xfiles and not one time is the word UFO mentioned?!

if thats your reality I dont want anything to do with it.

No, not aliens, aliens, aliens, aliens. It’s I want to believe, which he hardly ever says but which was the caption on the poster of a UFO behind Mulder’s desk. And in regards to no mentions of UFOs in the poem, apparently the new movie is not about aliens either. I haven’t seen it yet and won’t until next week, so I can’t verify that statement, but if they don’t have to have aliens, nor do I. I’m happy with making a general principle out of the X-files which I can a priori apply to the rest of life.
