afraid
i hunted them
down and extinguished
the life of every last one.

research later revealed
that they are not harmful
in the least but could have done
a world
of good.

(and how many
histories reflect
this very notion?)

    I think the answer might be blowing in the wind, but for the sake of quantification I venture a wild, uneducated guess of 17 billion-billion, more or less.
