People ask
“How do you feel?”
I say “Fine”
But do I really?
Am I to know
If I can not cry?
If I lie awake at night
Thinking without control
But not of my mother?
Hey man, I’m sorry that you and your family have to go through this.
People ask how you feel because they don’t know what to say but think they have to say something, even though anything anyone says generally sounds pretty hollow. Here are my two hollow cents, though (keeping in mind that one should never listen to anything I say): in my experience, the only thing that helps even slightly is to get drunk and cuss at people. This technique has only worked for me in the short run. I haven’t found anything that works in the long run. Also, you aren’t obligated to feel fine or to feel at all.
I don’t think you understand.
I don’t know how I feel inside,
So I don’t think I have the right to
say I’m fine if I’m most likely not inside.
it feels weird/wrong to not feel
something, anythiing.
to not cry when everyone else does…
it’ll hit you…
maybe monday?
but
sometimes it just leaves you numb
blinding sense of numbness
paralyzing feeling of nothingness
and then the wall when it hits you
my face usually goes numb when i cry
too long
are you serious
writing poetry as if
comments aren’t ’nuff
Hey Tucker –
give yourself an opportunity to experience the process of grief, loss, and separation. the feelings will come – and when they do – allow them to flow through and do not repress. trust me, as you recall – i’ve been there.
big luv to ya.
