Non Sequiturs

poetry

I hate people’s non sequitur comments

About poems I write with a deep core meaning

When people say, “I love your poetry”

But miss my point and don’t comment on that

I’d rather receive constructive criticism

That shreds apart my work, revealing every single flaw

Than be told “It’s great” and not be told “I understand what you mean”

    oh tuck…
    don’t you know…?

    you write for
    you.
    always
    for you…

    that’s what it’s about.

    when you put it
    down
    on paper
    it’s
    so
    personal.

    some people
    get it.

    so many don’t…

    to touch
    someone,

    with your
    words

    to make them
    feel
    your pain,
    fear
    sadness.

    to open their
    eyes
    and hearts

    and make them
    cry…

    it becomes
    personal
    for them too.

how do you comment on that?

    i love you.

(and p.s. i do get it.)

and its nice once in a while when you write something overwhelmingly deep and someone thinks its about poo…
turns out it reaches you both… just on seperate levels… one for you… and um… number two for them.
